‘athenian-democracy’

Ancient Athens - The Agora

The first democracy has a series of structures which we consider intrinsic to the ideal of democracy, and although a construct of its time (with those allowed to take part in this democratic process being limited), the idea of democracy (Dēmokratía: rule of the people), is consistent with the idea of the Agora, a public space which facilitates its key functions.
